Founded in 1998 by ex-Army officer, Jamie Horton, Harlequin has arguably grown into a leading resource for luxury goods for the Interior design trade. Specialising in tableware, decorative accessories and lighting from top European brands and with over 120 brands being represented in their Chelsea showroom, Harlequin is certainly a key address for any designer to be aware of.
The initial concept was to be able to provide the expertise in tableware design, to include both a bespoke offering, design service and finally the supply management of ordering, export packaging and delivery to any destination in the world for the company’s clients.
Whilst building their enviable list of suppliers Harlequin were repeatedly asked to add to their collections by supplier and client alike. So in 2010 a decorative accessory arm was added and then latterly in 2013 lighting became the third specialist service in the portfolio. Throughout this time the company maintained that all suppliers must be able to prove their goods and services were of a sufficient quality and design.
Materials used in products range from the obvious, porcelain, silver, crystal and leather to the slightly less obvious such as shagreen, shells, horn, chrome and coppers to obsidian, precious metals and even diamonds. Really understanding how these raw materials can be worked enables the company to give specialist advice about bespoke work and the personalised production of unique works of art.
Looking to the future Harlequin continues to strive to source new suppliers and artisan skills and continue to bring wonderful objets and products to the attention of our clients.
